WHERE A BOOK MEETS ART

Open. Play. Immerse

With D’ORO D’ART, D’ORO Collection opens a new frontier in luxury publishing. A radical hybrid between the art book and digital languages, D’ORO D’ART redefines the boundaries of editorial creation. The act of reading is transformed. The book becomes an immersive narrative experience—where moving images and materiality merge into a single, unified language.

D’ORO D’ART works merge the physicality of artisanal bookbinding with contemporary video art. Each structure incorporates LCD screens, long-life technological components, and high-quality audiovisual systems.

The audio-visual file—at the heart of the work—is a permanent, organic part of the book itself. An inseparable element of its identity.

Dara Birnbaum

Arabesque

The first D’ORO D’ART project was unveiled at Art Basel Miami 2019, in collaboration with Marian Goodman Gallery, where a copy of the book remains available to this day.

At its core is Dara Birnbaum, a pioneer of video art. For the occasion, the artist reinterpreted Arabesque (2011) in a new, vertical format—adapted into a single-channel video and produced in a limited edition of six copies.

The editing weaves together music and image, reflecting on the relationship between Robert and Clara Schumann. Alongside their compositions (Arabesque Op. 18 and Romanze Op. 11), the work includes excerpts from the 1947 film Song of Love, where Clara is confined to the role of silent muse.

Birnbaum restores her voice, presence, and centrality—offering a powerful reflection on gender, authorship, and artistic representation.

Federico Solmi

The Grand Voyage

In 2023, D’ORO Collection presented the second D’ORO D’ART project: The Grand Voyage, a trilogy by Federico Solmi, the Italian-American artist known for his visionary and ironic style.

Through digital painting, animation, and nonlinear storytelling, Solmi reimagines the book as a narrative portal—an entry point to explore myth, pop culture, power, and identity. Three enigmatic figures inhabit digitally generated worlds:

The Goddess, masked as Cleopatra, emerges from a Byzantine mosaic infused with pop aesthetics. A symbol of vanity and fame, she becomes a postmodern deity—constructed and unstable.

The Wizard, dressed in Renaissance garb, moves through a synthetic landscape of arcade mountains and contemplative silence. He converses with a poodle, an icon of isolation as a form of freedom.

The Wanderer, a melancholic knight inspired by Dürer, launches toy rockets into the void. He is both visionary entrepreneur and lost child—a symbol of the contemporary hero’s fragility.
